The students in my class come from different economic backgrounds. Over half of our students are from low-income families. They work super hard and they love to explore, to discover and learn. My students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. I am looking for experiences to help my students develop an interest in math and science.
I focus on their potential and growth.
I may not be able to control their home lives; however, I can certainly control their experience during the school day. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hoping to inspire my students and develop curiosity in math and science. I want to provide projects that lead to discussions and new questions.
My Project
My students are creative and full of questions! They love hands-on and engaging projects that challenge them. They come to school each day ready to try new things in order to grow academically.
Curious, energetic, and creative; my students are eager to complete any kind of challenge.
Financial literacy is important because it equips students with the knowledge and skills needed to manage money effectively!
Through these resources I selected, students will be able to work through math stations learning about money, place value, data and charts, and fractions. The lessons will be real world that students can relate to. Through these resources and with the help of other teachers from teachers pay teachers, students will be presented with word problems and discussions continuing to increase their financial literacy knowledge. Many of the resources will also be digital to allow student to explore with technology.
The other resources will be used in the class store that focuses on economics. Students are motivated to do the best when they have the opportunities to earn tickets for the store. The store will be connected to the financial literacy lessons.
