My Students

My students are such an amazing group that enjoy learning new things. With the coronavirus pandemic, it has been so different for all of us.

Currently, we are learning through Zoom meetings with the use of paper, markers and a small whiteboard.

The majority of my students fall under Title I and are not able to afford many of the school supplies needed.

My Project

My students have really been working hard using Google Classroom and MasteryConnect to complete their assignments during this distance learning. However, they would greatly benefit from fun, easy to read, math manipulative that can be displayed on a magnetic white board. For example, if the lesson I am teaching is on fractions, I can have the magnetic fraction manipulative ready to place on the whiteboard. Where as, I normally get a sheet of paper and write down the fractions or hold up an index card with the fraction on it. Unfortunately, when I try to show my students how a whole can also be broken down into eight 1/8 fractions, it is hard to hold all those pieces in my hands so I have to tape them on a sheet of paper or to the little white board. Also, when we do measurements, the measuring containers are large enough to be seen well through our Zoom class.
