Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are struggling math students in a Title I School in a diverse school district. We will be using a research-based program filled with hands-on activities for small group instruction for grades K through 2. The activities include counting, addition, subtraction, spatial pattern recognition, and other early numeracy skills. The games and objects will help my kindergartners learn to count. The ten frames will provide a framework for understanding larger numbers with counting on from 5, and help students understand part/whole relationships. The dice will help students learn to recognize spatial patterns which is essential to fluid and flexible mathematician.
