Our students are ready and willing to take on the challenges of a 21st century education. They have many diverse styles of learning and need exposure to 21st century learning resources. They need to collaborate with their peers and lead by example.
We are 95% African-American, 2% Haitian-American, 2% Hispanic and 1% Caucasian with 97% of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch.
Our school is located in the inner city of Miami, Florida. Although our students are faced with many socioeconomic challenges, they seek a high quality education to become productive citizens.
My Project
Covid-19 has drastically impacted schools, including temporary closures and long distance learning. These factors created learning losses which need to be mitigated by providing mathematically rich classes. A top priority for this school year is to differentiate instruction to meet the learning needs of all of our scholars.
Resources are needed to build math fact fluency for our small group, differentiated math stations.
The math stations consist of a technology center, a math games/fluency center, and a teacher led center that provides small group assistance with the most essential math skills. The interactive math activities books will provide materials for our math games/fluency centers.
Our kindergarten, first grade and second grade students will develop their math computation skills using addition and subtraction timed tests. Our third, fourth and fifth grade students will develop their math fact fluency using multiplication and division timed tests.
