This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students: hands-on learning. The best way for my students to further their understanding is by doing, and what better way to "do" than with an iPad!
My students are 5th graders who live in Texas.
Our school is a Title 1 school. The majority of my students come from low socio-economic background and it is very unlikely for them to have ongoing opportunities to use or learn with interactive, high-tech resources like an iPad.
My Project
There are so many apps that I could have on the iPad to reinforce math concepts. This would also make learning math more fun and engaging for students who struggle with math. The iPad will allow my students to use technology to apply and practice what concepts are being taught.
An iPad will give my students access to a technology that is relevant in today's world.
My students will be able to further their understanding on a medium that is becoming more and more prevalent in the classroom. Practice and exposure to this type of technology can help prepare my 5th graders for middle school and high school where technology is used regularly for instruction. I also feel that the iPad with the instructional games can help develop a love for math and learning.
