Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a second year teacher that works in the South Bronx. I teach first grade students. I work for the NYC Board of Education. The NYCBOE focuses their importance on reading and writing. I believe that math is important as well.
In my opinion it is important for first grade students to learn and apply basic math skills. Math is extremely important because when they get to third grade they have to take a statewide math test. I feel that the Lakeshore Math Centers would be a great hands on manipulative to own. My students love centers. They do not realize that while they are engaged with the centers that certain skills are being reinforced. The centers come with everything my students need to complete super-involving activities that cover a wide range of early math skills.
Please fund my proposal. I know my students would truly appreciate these centers. They would bring a smile to their faces.
