This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a second grade teacher at a low income school in Washington Heights, New York. I have been teaching at my school for the past three years and continually strive to improve my classroom in order to provide my students with the best learning experience.
I would like to improve my math center. Math provides hands-on learning experiences and the use of materials and manipulatives is important.
I would love to implement many wonderful math lessons and projects but, because of the limited amount of space in the room I find it difficult to organize the materials and make them easily accessible. In addition, my students have difficulty using the materials and manipulatives because the center does not have the adequate containers and work space.
With this storage unit, I could organize all the materials needed and my students will know where to find them and utilize them in their learning.
In the math center, the storage unit will provide us with clear containers that will store the math manipulatives. Since the unit is compact, it will allow for the students to work comfortably in the math center space.
This storage unit will provide my class with the ability to organize and properly use the materials that they need to enhance their education. I want them to be able to use the math manipulatives. This will help them solidify their knowledge.
