Help us improve our numeracy skills! My Kindergarten students are "approaching expectation" on their numeracy assessments. We need more hands-on math activities for our math center!
Keeping the attention of a five-year-old is sometimes difficult.
Pencil and paper activities just don't seem to motivate their busy little minds. I would love to provide my students with more hands-on activities to strengthen their numeracy skills.
My Project
In my experience, the best way to motivate students to learn is to create meaningful and fun lessons. I would like to incorporate more games and manipulatives into my math program. These games and activities will go into our math center as follow-up activities to our lessons.
I believe that my students will learn more if given actual objects to manipulate and play with rather than the traditional pencil and paper activity. Students may visit the math center and work on the activities at their own leisure and at their own pace. If they are engaged and excited about the activity...they will learn!
I want my students to get excited about learning!
I hope to see improved math skills on our next benchmark test. With your help, I will be be able to create fun lessons that motivate everyone to learn!!!
