Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are hard-working and respectful kids who need the right environment and care from the adults around them. I have seen my kids try their best every single day if we treat them right and are able to motivate them to do so. They need to be encouraged for their efforts. The majority of my students come from low income backgrounds and cannot always afford all the supplies they need for their learning, therefore I have to provide them with the supplies in my classroom.

I will be using the tools in my class for 7th and 8th-grade math concepts, for example, the 3-D shapes are used both in 7th and 8th grade to understand the formulas for surface area and volume.

The mirrors for my 8th graders to understand transformations with hands-on activities, the whiteboard with graphs because both 7th and 8th graders have to graph equations and it helps me to assess my students' understanding while teaching so that I am able to help with any misconceptions.

We cannot deny that COVID has interrupted instruction, and to fill up these gaps we cannot keep pushing them back, by telling them to learn their math facts, but instead can equip them with tools to overcome that and move ahead in understanding the concepts and compute the problems. I also have requested a book that will help me in planning better and more engaging lessons for my students, as I feel I too must look for new strategies to bring to my class to keep my students motivated and eager to learn.
