Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are from very low socioeconomic backgrounds and school is a safe, fun place for them to come. Many of them also come from different cultural backgrounds and many of them are English Language Learners.
My students love to learn and come to school every day excited about what we will do each day.
They are very creative and love to think out loud about what we are learning. They love it when we are working together and are willing to work hard.
My Project
My students need math games to help them learn their math skills, specifically for telling time, counting money, measurement, adding and subtracting. We are currently reviewing different skills relating to these concepts and having the games and activities to do this will only strengthen their math skills. Kids learn by doing and math is a "doing" subject. It is easier for them to understand when they are able to see it in front of them.
I feel that this will help strengthen my students' math skills and make learning math fun.
Students learn by doing and playing and I hope with these activities that math will become fun and enjoyable.
