My Students
My students are THE best 5th graders in Greensboro. Being that our school's 5th grade team is departmentalized, I have the pleasure of reaching and teaching all 5th grade scholars Math. In the past, I've had the pleasure of teaching this group of scholars when they were in 1st grade as well.
I've witnessed not only their brains grow, but their unique personalities and individualism flourish.
The students are very relatable and down to earth, they enjoy making real-world connections to the content being taught. My student's awareness of the world holds me accountable as a teacher to make content being taught, next level.
My Project
Students learn best through real world, problem based scenarios. To our classroom, these scenarios and experiences aren't new, this one will however be NEXT LEVEL!
This experience will serve as a culminating activity that helps us to review place value, decimal operations, adding and subtracting fractions, and multiplying and dividing fraction standards.
This is the best way to make learning stick and its memorable. Students will take orders from staff members around the building, calculate their totals, prepare and deliver pizzas with exact fractional proportions of toppings. This will give the students real-world career experience.
