My Students
1st and 2nd graders are energetic, enthusiastic, and super social. They are so enjoyable to be around. They love being involved in the learning process and want to succeed. Our goal as a classroom is that we enter the classroom each day ready to try new things and to be brave to make mistakes. Mistakes lead to learning. As a teacher in an impoverished urban area, we struggle to have access to resources needed to provide a quality 21st century. My goal is to provide an equitable education for each student in our classroom.
I teach eager and enthusiastic students who need these resources to reach their full potential.
My Project
Our current math curriculum uses counters, connecting cubes, number lines, and ten frames to build on learning addition, subtraction, and number sense. Yet, there is one problem I don't have enough these resources to support their learning. A successful math classroom would provide each child with the learning experience where each child could have these manipulatives.
Learning math should be a hands-on experience!
Secondly, the other resources added to this project would be great visuals in teaching place value and geometry.
Lastly, these manipulatives would be great resources for math centers and intervention time. These resources would be used daily throughout the school year.
