This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach at a Title 1 school where the poverty level is high. 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. I want to provide students with plenty of opportunities in English and Spanish to receive the best education possible regardless of income. I have high expectations for all of my kindergarten students and know that they will grow and learn beyond what is expected if given a chance.
My Project
My kindergarten bilingual students do not have the same resources available to them at home that our school provides. Students are usually provided with hands-on learning activities and tools in the classroom at school.
I want my kindergarten students to receive a solid academic foundation and these materials will allow them to develop phonemic awareness in literature and number sense in math.
My kindergarten class will reach the same level of high achievement as previous kindergartners with the support.
The magnetic dry erase boards will be used by students to practice writing and reading letters, words, sentences and numbers. The counters will be used for composIng and decomposing numbers, adding and subtracting, and to create sets.
