Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Remember how much fun it was to learn math and play games. Well, we don't have the materials that the kids need to learn math while playing games.
My students are first generation Americans and come from poverty stricken families.
The children love to go to school and are eager to learn. The kids are just learning English and sometimes find it hard to express themselves. Playing games is the perfect way to work with partners and have fun.
I would like to give them the same opportunities that every other child has and give them the resources they need to succeed in math.
My Project
The children need a laptop to play math games. The addition/subtraction games and number activities will help the children learn their number and get better math skills. The math games also teach the students to be good partners and learn how to take turns while communicating with peers.
The children will be more engaged and eager to learn math with a new computer, new math games and counters.
Math is such an important part of life that I would like the kids to get a great foundation of learning in kindergarten. We will pay it forward as time goes on.
