Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are bright, curious, and energetic! They are always eager to explore new topics. When their brains start turning around something they find interesting learning happens naturally. I want them to have access to resources that will open their minds to the facets of the world around them.

My 4th grade students are avid learners that deeply desire to be successful.

They are unique and have a range of interests and skills. Many of my students come from challenging home situations and have faced many obstacles in their lives. Yet school can be a safe place for my students and creating a nurturing environment within the classroom is key for developing lifelong learners. My idea is that they see themselves as explorers, ready to ask questions, and take on any challenge that comes their way.

My Project

My students need an Apple TV to bring technology into the classroom. Students will be able to see educational videos, examples of student work and engage with online resources. Additionally, this year I have started using Class Dojo to develop classroom culture. With an Apple TV, students would have constant visual access to their points throughout the day. This would enhance participation and ownership in the classroom.

The various math games will greatly enhance my students' problem solving skills in math.

Every day my students participate in small group centers and these activities would keep them engaged while challenging them to apply math to their daily lives. Some of the games allow students to practice foundational multiplication and fraction skills. Others give students the opportunity to problem solve situations using many strategies. This is excellent for growing critical thinking skills. Most of the games are cooperative, which will also enhance teamwork skills in the class. As a teacher in a new grade this year, I have very little resources to begin the school year with. These supplies would get my students on the right track and would make learning fun and memorable.
