My Students

My school is a co-ed Title I institution in North Carolina catering to approximately 700 students from all walks of life. Although we operate on a 100% free lunch system, we are still anchored in excellence. Everyday learning opportunities are provided to our students that allow them to explore, discover, and maximize their potential.

My scholarly Brainiacs are like gems, different yet precious!

They are a bunch of ambitious, hardworking, and willing to learn students. I am committed to my task of ensuring that I provide them meaningful, purposeful, inclusive, and relevant learning experiences daily!!

My Project

Using these math manipulatives in our learning space will allow my students the opportunity to build and improve their conceptual understanding of math ideas. For example, the topic fraction is usually one of those problematic areas. However, it is best taught with objects such as fractional pieces. The fractional pieces in these kits will allow my students to see, manipulate, create, represent, and analyze each as a number.

These math manipulatives will allow my Brainiacs to construct their own cognitive models for abstract mathematical ideas and processes that will, in turn, deepen their mathematical competence and boost their confidence.

These manipulatives will boost students' engagement, and increase both interest in and enjoyment of mathematics.
