Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a special education teacher in a school in the Bronx. Although challenging, it is most rewarding to be a special education teacher, working with curious, enthusiastic children with various disabilities and academic levels, all in one classroom. A majority of my students struggle with early literacy skills, which results in students falling far below grade-level standards in reading, writing, and math skills. My goal is to assure that I am able to reach all the different levels and learning styles in my classroom and equip my students with the necessary tools/skills to provide long-term success.
My Project
Snacks are a great way to persuade learners who have low energy and may need the extra boost to get through the day. Fruit snacks, pretzels, and chips are delicious snacks that would reset the body and motivate students to continue learning.
All the math games and tools selected will deepen the understanding of math concepts in a more enjoyable way.
Magnetic Fraction Circles will help students visualize parts of a whole as fractions can be difficult to understand. Multiplication Bingo will reinforce the multiplication tables in a fun way as a whole class or small group activity. The Real World Math game and Math Menus will be a fun way for students to apply the math skills they have learned.
