Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are kind, inquisitive, compassionate, and creative. They are driven and motivated to do well and eager to please their parents and teachers. They are mostly English Language Learners (ELL) from different backgrounds and get along very well. They come in every day with smiles and a great desire to learn. All my students come from low income families and they live in an impoverished urban community. Their parents try their best to give them as much as possible but technology is something that they lack.
I am a 4th grade teacher who understands that today, technology is not just a resource, but a requirement.
My students need the technological resources to meet today's demands. My students need computers in order to get access to math and science resources otherwise unavailable to them. Computers will allow them to record, edit, and display their scientific experiments as well as their math research. They can use their creativity in ways that they are not able to do now due to the lack of technology in the classroom and at home.
My Project
Education today is technologically based. With an HP laptop and wireless headphone my students will be able to record, edit, view, and share their science experiments and findings For example, my students will be able to show plants growing in a time-elapsed fashion. Having access to thousands of books and articles though the right technology is invaluable to my students' research. Our units of study include researching plants and animals, different natural disasters, matter and energy, different ecosystems on Earth, and much more. With computers, my students cannot only research those topics but then create, publish, and share their findings.
