Math and Science the IPad Way

My students need an IPad to help with math concepts for our newly adopted math program as well as to review the animated science tutorials for each chapter.

My Students

With our newly adopted math program it is hard for students to utilize all of the components so they can become successful as well as the components of other subjects such as science and social studies.

I have a very diverse 4th and 5th grade combination class full of eager students wanting to learn.

They are very knowledgeable about technology as they have shown me many new things. I would consider our parent population to be lower working class. Many of our students are on free or reduced lunch.

My Project

With the use of an IPad my students can review the math concepts through our animated math models from our program as well as other components that we do not get to during the lesson. I find that many of my students still struggle with their basic multiplication facts. With an IPad I can get applications that can help them to master their basic facts as well as other concepts that they may not fully understand such as fractions, decimals, and division. Just the other day I had a student show me an animated review of the lesson I had just taught in science which I thought students could easily access via an IPad. Overall an IPad would help to reinforce those concepts that students need to be successful in school.

With an IPad students will be able to access more of the curriculum that our programs offer so they can become successful.

Not all of my students have computers at home. This would allow those students to access the same materials in the class that others are able to access at home. Students will practice concepts through fun and interactive applications making them more successful.
