Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students mostly came from simple underprivileged families. They are the kind of students that would pose a big challenge to teachers in terms of learning since most of them are on the slow category. But the thing I like the most about them is their continuous fight in their struggle to learn the lessons. They continue their way to learn as much as school time can give them which is the same reason why I, as one their teachers, is so inclined into continuing the fight with them in finishing their studies with flying colors.
As for our/their success so far, from a school letter grade of F, we have pushed it to a C+, and will continue to aim higher everytime.
We are in a small school which would mean that government allocated funds are very much limited, not enough to have all needed learning materials provided to the students. But regardless of this situation, my students are still focused on their way to learning and become good and functional citizens in the near future.
My Project
These are basic learning materials that will support the daily activities of the students. Many times, several students would be deprived of learning due to insufficient, malfunctioning, and or lacking of these learning materials. These would ensure the continuity of their learning progress since they have all the stuff they need in their daily learning activities. Like the current calculators that my students are using which are on service for the last 15 years, old calculators with blurry screens and malfunctioning buttons. I believe with these new inexpensive ones, they will be more motivated to strive ahead.
These materials can also be used/sent at home especially during this time of pandemic where our school is switching back and forth from face to face learning to online and vice-versa.
But we are making sure that our students will value them and would be using these materials in the best way possible and would return them back to school when not needed anymore.
