This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In the 21st century, math and science skills are vital but resources can be expensive, and public schools across the country are struggling to stay up-to-date when facing budget cuts.

My goal is to make sure all my students have an equal shot at a great education by using hands-on activities and manipulatives on a daily basis and make sure that they also enjoy learning with a variety of resources.

My class has children from culturally, economically, and educationally diverse backgrounds. I want to provide them with stimulating lessons and access to resources that they cannot get without guidance. This project will narrow the gap between students who have access to manipulatives at home and those who don’t. These resources will provide many hands-on learning experiences and lessons for them.

My Project

My students need these math and science manipulatives to help review skills in small groups and in pairs. I hope that these Answer Boards and Insects can provide more opportunities for fostering independence, teamwork, discussion, and responsibility. Since class sizes have increased in the past two years, my students' educational needs have increased also. Having enough manipulatives for the larger class size will allow me to still work effectively in small groups as they work in pairs and teams. These activities also focus on key skills in math, discussion procedures, problem-solving, and science.

I hope that all donors will know that any donations to our classroom project will help so much and provide more opportunities for our class.

These new manipulatives will allow for these small groups, pair-share, and independent work. They will foster and build mathematical thinking and scientific investigations.
