My students come to school every day excited to learn. They are a wonderful group of children who range in age from three to five years. They all come from different backgrounds and come with various special education needs; but at the end of the day they are all the same: they just want to learn and enjoy school. Several of them have difficulty with sensory needs, need special seating, need a hug, need a friend, need therapy or a manipulative to help them be successful! They are wonderful friends and helpers with peers in the classroom.
My Project
The accessories requested will help my students gain skills in math, literacy and science. They will use the gems and bugs to pattern, sort and count. The ability to create and predict patterns is a precursor for success in algebra. As students use the letters they will be able to spell words and develop skills necessary to read literature. The building blocks will help them to develop their problem-solving skills and develop fine motor skills. These materials will help them be contributing members of society as they gain valuable life skills.
