Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I’m a reading and math intervention teacher at two Title I schools in Sacramento, CA. The students I work with often have challenging home lives and struggle financially.
Also, 90% of the students I support are English Learners.
Many of my students face difficult financial situations at home. I’m working hard this year to support all students and to give them the educational experiences they need and deserve.
I work with groups of students everyday for 30-40 minutes. During that time, students would use technology, group work, educational games, and discussions to support and broaden their understanding of grade level math and reading topics.
My Project
Students will use cubes to build number sense and to support their understanding of math concepts. The place value cart will help students recognize the relationships between numbers.
The alphabet cards and early reading activities will be used to engage english learners and my youngest readers.
The sight word games are another fun activity to help build word knowledge and support engagement in reading. The alphabet puzzles will help students recognize letters. The magnetic boards are a fun way for kids to learn to spell. Also, the pictures allow students to connect words to real objects. The visuals are a great tool for all students learning to read.
