My students arrive to school each day in a happy mood. Together, we set the tone of the day for an educational experience that incorporates joy and delight in the classroom. Regardless of each individual student’s physical and cognitive challenges, we maintain an emphasis on what can be done to preserve the focus on the success of each student.
My students require hands-on manipulatives and miniature objects in order to increase their comprehension of the lessons and maintain their attention to task.
During storybook reading, I utilize miniature representations of wind-up figurines that represent the objects from the story. Cause and effect objects such as pull-back vehicles and wind-up toys, are of high interest to my students and keep their concentration on the assignments. Math counters enhance my students’ visualization of mathematical concepts of addition or subtraction during math lessons.
