Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The majority of my students come from Hispanic backgrounds. Our school is in a low income neighborhood where students may not necessarily be exposed to a variety of materials. Centers and stations are my students' favorite time of the day and having fun, engaging, and hands-on centers will get them even more excited for learning.

"Yay, centers!" is all I hear from them when we start our stations and centers.

It makes me so happy to see them excited to learn. With these materials, we can make those happy children even happier.

My Project

These materials (build-a-number houses, phonemic awareness folder game library, literature-based rhyming and word building centers, and highlighter tape) can help make a big difference by giving my students hands-on activities. My students do centers every day. They need hands-on centers to be able to better understand addition in math. They also need engaging centers to help with rhyming during literacy. Right now, we are struggling with understanding rhyming and these new centers can help my students better understand the concept.

In my classroom, we love to do math!

The students love using fingers, blocks, and counters to count. However, sometimes they need the fun more interactive games to help them master addition. And who doesn't love practicing counting using little race cars!
