This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"When will we ever have to use this in real life?" my math students often ask me.

My students are an energetic group of teenagers from Southern California.

They are excited about learning math and want to be challenged in creative ways. They are curious about how we can use math in the real world. The school receives Title 1 funds and the students are predominantly English language learners.

My Project

The students in my eighth grade math classes will use the computer workstation I am requesting to run CAD software to design products and environments. Students will connect real life problems with concepts we are learning in our math class and answer questions such as, "How much would it cost to tile the classroom floor?" or "How many gallons of paint would we need to cover the gymnasium wall with a mural?"

This computer will give my students the opportunity to explore an industry, perhaps a career that they may consider pursuing in the future.

Students will see how creativity connects with mathematics. It will expose my students to new experiences through technology.
