My Students

The students in our small school are diverse in their interests and in their future plans. Some are headed to college or trade schools after high school; many will be entering the workforce right after graduation.

Every student in my classes has the desire to meet graduation requirements and be prepared for the next steps in their lives.

They have varied learning styles and abilities, but each one is excited and proud to complete meaningful assignments. From algebra to calculus, small learning victories stacked one on the other lead to incredible gains in how mathematics describes the world around us.

My Project

Graphing calculators provide the means for students to analyze the results of more complicated mathematical functions rather than getting bogged down in tedious arithmetic that can derail an entire lesson.

Finding patterns in mathematics is where the beauty lies.

This is made possible with today's technology. This mathematical approach can be the difference between students exploring the field of math or casting it aside as boring. That's not to say that number sense and algebraic manipulation are unimportant, but graphing calculators help to keep all aspects of high school math in balance and relevant.
