This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students attend a high-poverty school with very limited resources. 100% of students are offered a free, hot breakfast and lunch. A large number of my students attend a before-school program AND an after-school program, leaving them at school for close to a total of 8-10 hours per day. There is limited parent involvement in my classroom, as most parents are busy with either work or attending school themselves. With all of this data, it is so surprising that my students are still passionate about learning, regardless of their lack of resources.
As an educator at a high poverty school, I am inspired to continously gather resources for students to thrive and further their love of learning!
My Project
Our district is facing some serious budget cuts for next school year. With budget cuts comes an empty storage room that would normally be fully equipped with crayons, pens of all colors, paper, glue sticks...you name it! To make sure that students get the materials they need to succeed I am hoping you can help!
These materials will be used daily by creative little hands!
Poster paper is a MUST in the workshop model. We have anchor charts hanging everywhere reminding our readers and writers of good habits, strategies and tips. Glue sticks, markers and erasers? Well, we go through those like CRAZY in First Grade and my worst fear is to walk into the storage room and find empty shelves. Please help my little learners in any way you can!
