This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
To help cultivate a love for reading and to support each student's individual needs, our classroom requires some additional resources that will make a significant difference.
Book Bags for Each Student: Every student has their own book bag, which is carefully curated to include books that match their reading level and interests.
These bags would not only foster a sense of ownership and responsibility but would also allow students to take home and share the joy of reading with their families.
Bean Bag Chair: A comfortable reading nook can make all the difference in a child’s reading experience. It’s proven that a relaxed environment enhances focus and engagement, and this chair would create a special reading corner that encourages students to spend more time with their books.
Auditory Feedback Phones: These simple yet effective tools help students improve their reading fluency by allowing them to hear their own voices as they read. This immediate auditory feedback is crucial for developing pronunciation, rhythm, and expression. For many students, especially those who struggle with reading, these phones can make a world of difference in their ability to practice and gain confidence in their reading skills.
Guided Reading Strips: For students who struggle with tracking words on the page, guided reading strips are invaluable. These strips help students follow along with the text, reducing the likelihood of skipping lines or losing their place. They are particularly helpful for young readers and those with learning disabilities, making the reading process more manageable and enjoyable.
