Hi, I am a first year Kindergarten teacher in a low income, high need community. I took over a classroom with limited resources and was told that there was no money in the budget to buy more.
My students are just beginning in life and I believe that a firm foundation at a young age makes for a strong scholar later.
I am asking for manipulatives in math, social studies, science, and language arts so that learning can be something fun, something that the kids enjoy. Too many children have fallen through educational cracks because traditional teaching methods are not working for them. I want to be creative with my teaching and I want learning to be fun, not a chore. My kids should love coming to school everyday to learn. With these supplies, I can begin to achieve the fun, creative learning environment that I long for, but I can't do it alone. I need your help. Please help me give my students more of the tools that they need to start building a strong academic foundation early on; because the skills that children learn in Kindergarten, will last them a lifetime!
