This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school is a Title 1 school. 100% of students get free breakfast, lunch, and snack. The neighborhood these children live in is not the best, and despite what they have been through, they walk into my classroom everyday eager to learn.

It is my responsibility to make sure my students have everything they need in order to have a successful school year.

I have tried to do this on my own, but now I'm reaching out to the world to help me. These children are our future and we need to do everything we can to make sure they have a great learning environment.

My Project

These materials will help my students in so many ways. The rug will be a spot for students to sit so we can have our daily morning meeting. This bonding time allows us to create an environment in which all students feel safe and comfortable in learning and making mistakes. It will also be a spot throughout the day where students can come sit if they are unable to see the board from their seat. I have 29 students and it gets very crammed with all the desks. Some desks are far away from the board. This rug will allow students to come sit close to the board whenever they want!

My students love for reading will grow so much with the addition of the read along books.

Right now, I only have a few sets of books to rotate through the center. Adding these new books will make the center exciting and students will be eager to read. More exposure to reading-especially topics that students are interested in allows their love for reading to grow.

The math materials will be great hands on activities the students can use. Hands on activities are so much more engaging and the students get SO much more from these types of activities. The amount of learning that will take place will be endless. My students will be so excited to go to their daily math centers.
