Materials for Visual Learners

My students need graphic organizers that will help them visualize and represent information they're learning in reading, writing, science, and social studies.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Imagine sitting in a classroom and not being able to access information simply because its not shown to you. My students are bright, competent, and creative kids who learn visually and need resources and tools to help them show what they know.

My students are in grades Kindergarten through Fifth grade.

I work with them in their general classrooms and in a special education pull-out room (in groups of two to five). My students are creative, bright, competent kids that could very well be the next President (they're that convincing!) or inventor (their ideas are that good). However, they learn very differently than we "traditionally" teach, and require tools, instruction strategies, and support that allows them to access information and express themselves.

My Project

These tools, graphic organizers, books, and other materials, will be used to teach my students how to express their ideas, how to access information they read, and will strengthen their reading and comprehension skills. In addition, I will use these materials during inclusion instruction (when I team-teach with a general education teacher) to reach the entire class. These materials will be used across the K-5 school to inspire kids to think in new ways and to allow my students to participate fully in reading and writing instruction. I can't wait to find out what my kids learn with these tools and strategies!

Thank you for considering this project.

I know it will make a huge difference in reading instruction, not just for my students, who will be more connected to their classrooms and more confident in their understanding and expression, but for all the students as we introduce new ways of representing and understanding information.
