This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach 6-8 grade in a Title 1 lower income magnet performing arts school. We strive to maintain a high level of artistic instruction without asking the school families to contribute monetarily.
These highly motivated artists love printmaking, weaving and fiber arts and our classroom studio is missing some key items to provide a high quality art education equivalent to that of a more well-to-do school system.
We strive to provide all students with these materials so that they can learn new skills, find a love of new techniques, and prepare for specialized art high school portfolios to provide equal opportunities for all.
