Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our fourth grade classroom is our home away from home. We all come together as a community for lessons and fun activities. However, our resources are limited. We are in need of tools to help us build on our math skills, such as multiplication, division, place value, fractions, and decimals.
Students come from a wide range of cultures and families.
In our classroom, we are one big family, and we are part of a larger school community. Some students struggle with math skills, especially those students who find traditional learning activities difficult. My students need the option of fun, alternative activities and lessons to support their learning styles.
My Project
These math materials will make a huge difference in my students' learning, and in my teaching. Students will be able to work in small groups at centers to perform math tasks using the manipulatives and activities. We will be able to play Math Bingo as a whole class, building our classroom community. My students can use the Write & Wipe pockets on paper activities over and over again, saving time and paper for making copies!
The privacy partitions will help us work independently without distractions.
The magnetic manipulatives will be a great visual for my students during lessons on the whiteboard before they go off to work on their own. With so many hands-on experiences and fun opportunities, math will always be something my fourth graders will look forward to each day.
