My students need a class set of Geometry books (21 copies), a wireless presenter, and basic materials (30 rulers, 30 compasses, & 12 protractors) to improve their conceptual and procedural understanding.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime."
This is a relevant quote to the project because the items requested help students to discover learning, and to deepen their mathematical understanding by doing.
The majority of my students come from a low-income family, and will be the first generation to attend college.
The school that I am working at is a public charter school, and our mission is to serve these students and prepare them for college and adult life. Our school is also a technology and project-based school, where students learn through different technology and hands-on activities.
My Project
The first set of item requested is a partial class set of textbooks (Discovering Geometry). This is one of my favorite Geometry textbooks because students learn by discovering through hands on activities. Students will frequently use this textbook during class to discover the lesson of the day, work on activities and practice problems, and use it as an additional learning aid.
The next set of material requested includes a class set of rulers, compasses, and protractors. These are essential mathematical tools in learning Geometry. These items will also be used in conjunction with the textbooks, as students will learn to construct lines, angles, rays, bisectors, etc.
Lastly, I tend to use PowerPoint presentation a lot. It will be very useful to have a clicker with a laser pointer so that I do not need to stay in front of my computer the whole time. With the clicker, I can circulate around the classroom to check for student understanding.
Prior to finding out about this website, I was planning to make photocopies of the textbook.
Additionally, since my classroom lacks rulers, compasses, and protractors, students would've learned mathematical constructions through the computer lab (GeoGebra).
With this donation, students in my classroom will receive a much higher quality learning. They will have access to the full textbook, and they can experience constructions through their own hands.
