My Students
My hope for the students that I work with is to achieve meaningful life outcomes. For some this may mean simply communicating a basic need and for others this means navigating challenging social situations. Regardless of the level of need, through my work I intend to help all individuals progress.
I work with a variety of students from diverse backgrounds, with unique needs and in a number of different school settings.
While each student has their own strengths and weaknesses, all need support in learning ways to get their behavioral, academic and social needs met. Through my work both individually and in small groups, I strive to help students meet their needs using pro-social behaviors.
My Project
The resources I have requested will assist classroom staff in implementing individualized support programs for students with special needs. The items may be used by individual students while working 1:1 or may be used during small group social skills instruction.
Some of the requested items will be used int the following ways: The laminator, laminating pouches and velcro will be used to create long-lasting visual schedules, communication cards and social stories. The theraputty and sensory balls will be included in individual sensory or 'cool-down' kits. The plastic bins with lids will be used to organize individual intervention kits in order to keep all materials neatly together. Timers will be used both for whole group activities/skills practice as well as part of individual plans. Play dishes and sensory tubs will be used when working with individual students on task compliance and discrete trial training. White boards/pens will be used for whole group social skills lessons.
The donations to this project will improve the classrooms that I support by providing resources to assist in the implementation of specialized programs for a unique group of students.
