This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember what it was like to struggle in a specific area in reading or math and not being provided with the support needed to succeed? This is an obstacle that some of my students face today and it needs to change!

I am a first year fourth-grade teacher at a brand new charter school in Florida.

As a first year school we are off to a wonderful start! My classroom is composed of 22 energetic and fun-loving students. Many of my students are performing below grade-level in either reading or math and the workload is becoming more and more challenging. In order to effectively meet the needs of all of my students, I have requested these intervention activities to provide my students help in the areas where they specifically are in need of support.

My Project

Because of the fact that we are a first year school and that I am a first year teacher, providing intervention activities that meet specific needs has been quite an obstacle to achieve. With the items for small group interventions, I will be able to effectively meet the needs of all of my students in both reading and math. I have requested items such as reading intervention activities, which zero in on specific skills (making inferences, context clues, drawing conclusions, etc.) that a majority of my students have trouble with. I have also requested several math items such as file folder activities, which will strengthen my students' mathematic skills.

Donations for this request will truly make a difference in the lives of my students.

These items will ultimately provide my students with the opportunity for specific intervention activities to help meed their individual needs. Please help us achieve this goal!
