Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Kindergarten is an important year, setting the foundation for the future by providing children with opportunities to learn, grow, explore and build relationships.
I teach in a Title One Elementary School located in Corona, New York.
Our location was the epicenter of the Corona Virus. Many of the families were greatly impacted by this tragic event. Our school community already struggles economically and now during this pandemic their everyday lives must be so difficult. Therefore, I would like to take away some of the financial burden from my students families.
I would like all of my students to have the tools and materials they need to have a successful school year. Whether they are learning in person or remotely.
My Project
Most of my students come from low income families and during these hard times I can’t expect my parents to have much in the way of providing supplies for their children. I would like to support my students and parents by taking away some of the financial burden.
The supplies I have requested such as pencils, crayons, glue stick etc.
are some of the items my students will need and use on a daily basis. I have also requested folders and pencil boxes to keep everything neat and in one place. In case we need to go remote my students will be able to take home their supplies.
