My students are a select group of students who have opted to be in the AP drawing class. It is a very rigorous class that requires the students to complete 24 finished drawings in one school year. 5 of these drawings need to be mated and sent to the collage board.
My school is an inner city high school in Chicago.
We are an open enrollment school public school with students from all over the city. Many of our students travel far to get to our school each day and face many challenges along the way. 96% of our students receive free and reduced lunch, most are of African American decent, but a large number are recent immigrants from Africa, Latin America and the Middle East. There are dozens of languages spoken in the homes of our students.
My Project
The students will use the mat board to mat their finished drawings to then send off to the AP collage board. By sending in these finished drawings they will complete a required section of the portfolio assessment. The score that they then receive on the portfolio could get them collage credit at their university next year.
Donating to this project will make a huge difference in what my students are able to produce and in turn what type of score they will get on the final portfolio.
They have worked hard all year and this will be a great way to finalize and finish their drawings. I know in the end it will make them more confident artists.
