My Students

I currently teach first grade. The students are excited every day to be in school. The students come from low-income households. At school, I want to give them every opportunity to learn and explore. They love that they are learning to add and subtract in math. Also, students are currently beginning to read! This is very exciting and they try and read everything they can from posters to books.

The children and families in our school community are a diverse cross-section of many different cultures, ethnic groups, and languages.

We have an English as a Second Language Program. We educate children from 24 different countries, who speak 15 different languages. The students speak Bosnian, Spanish, Arabic, Albanian, Russian, Ukrainian, Sudanese, Somalian, Swahili, French, Kirundi, Bantu, Burmese, Vietnamese, Nepali, and Mai-Mai.

My Project

Remote learning is a whole new world for us.

Engaging students during this difficult time is a paramount concern.

I want to find resources and lessons that will help me keep my students motivated to learn in this new learning environment.

The resources on Teachers Pay Teachers are creative and will help me do just that. In a time where there is so much uncertainty, I know that it will help me provide quality instruction, that has been created by other educators and tested by still many more. This will help me reach my students.
