I teach an amazing group of 3rd grade students. We are a culturally diverse school with many students who are English language learners. Despite their challenges, they are very inquisitive and eager to learn.
My school is a Title I school which means most students qualify for free breakfast and lunch.
We strive to meet all of their needs as they strive for academic excellence. Their tenacity to learn encourages me to create a fun learning environment so they are actively engaged in learning every day.
Would you rather write your multiplication tables with paper and pencil or have fun learning while playing a game? There are a plethora of online educational resources that support fun and engaging ways for children to learn. They will be able to access educational apps and sites like iReady, Reflex Math, Quizlet, Go Math, Science Fusion, Spelling City, Readworks, Scholastic, and many more! The iPad will also be used as a research tool, for reading books, writing books, sight word review, creating videos plus much more.
iPads have the potential to level the playing field for all students.
Many of my students don't have computers or internet access at home. They have to take turns using the computers in class. This iPad will put 1 more piece of technology in my classroom to help them keep up with other students that may have more access to technology. The iPad is portable making it easier for them to use anywhere in the school.
I have a diverse group of learners. Some of my students are English Language Learners and ESE students. The iPad supports differentiated learning helping me reach each individual student. They need this tool to enhance core competencies such as collaboration, digital literacy, critical thinking, and problem-solving. The iPad will help them thrive in today's world. In order to be a 21st century learner, they must be familiar with technology. This iPad will be utilized to enhance learning in all subject areas.
