Help me give my students an opportunity to practice with professional tools such as blow-dryers, and curling irons, UV Gel lamps and nail drills just to name a few.
This is a very exciting year for my class and I, because we are work ready. After two years of intense studying and training we are opening our salon on campus for business. This will allow the students to acquire hands-on experience with live clients. They will also learn business operations and customer services skills; which include budgeting, inventory, and building and retaining clientele.
Many of the students attending my school are very creative and talented, in the cosmetology program.
Many of them are work ready, and have the skills needed for employment in the beauty industry; which I believe is an important asset to have before leaving high school.The students at my school are multicultural and diverse in every sense of the word. A large percentage of the students receive free lunch and must use public transportation to get to the campus.
Since I teach a skill, my students are not in a financial position to obtain the necessary equipment, tools, and supplies needed to practice the skills being taught.
My Project
Our advance students have made tremendous progress since the beginning of their training. Now they are ready to expand their skills and knowledge outside the classroom. These tools will allow them to move to the next levels in their skills and abilities by administering hair and nail services to the public. Hands on experience is recommended at every level for students to reach their maximum potential and level of confidence needed to enter the workforce. Having the proper tools will allow the students to take ownership, and always be prepared to service a client; the professional image spoken about during the learning and training process. The students are ready.
