This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach at a high poverty school where 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch! I have high expectations that they will grow and learn beyond what is expected. We are learning skills such as robotics, coding, and typing along with our curriculum. School is a safe and happy place for my students. Each day, they come into the classroom excited about the day and spending time exploring and learning together. For many of my students, being at school is the best part of their day.
My Project
These supplies will be put together to make take home math drawstring bag. The activities included in the take home kits will encourage parent participation and involvement. Students will check out the kits and work on the activities at home. Once returned another child may check out that math kit. I am requesting different types of multiplication and division activities so the students and parents have a variety of ways to learn/ review together.
The kits will provide different ways for the students to practice math facts in a fun and engaging way.
There are so many ways to play with fun-filled math cards and master multiplication and do vision facts along the way! Students just grab a deck to use as traditional flash card or follow simple directions to play skill-building card games from multiplication and division war to go fish!
When a child takes home the multiplication/Division can from Lakeshore, this ready-to-use discovery can emphasizes key multiplication and division skills! Perfect for reinforcing math concepts, the can comes with 25 self-checking activity cards and lots of manipulatives—including division cubes, an array mat, a spinner and more! This can from Lakeshore helps develop skills in multiplication and division, word problems and multistep word problems, and finding quotients and remainders.
If a student is going to be fluent in operations and algebraic thinking they must understand number relationships. Simply practicing and memorizing math facts will not give them the understanding to know why and become fluent. Number Bond cards from School Specialty will take students beyond just practicing math facts. They illustrate the relationships between numbers as well as the inverse relationship between multiplication and division. Students work with these 5 x 5 inch activity cards to build fluency, and gain number sense at the same time.
