My Students
Welcome to Mrs. Elder's classroom! I work with wonderful, thoughtful, and creative students with special needs. Daily, my students work on meeting their individualized education plan (IEP) goals. These goals are sometimes related to academic, social/behavioral, adaptive, speech therapy, occupational therapy, and/or physical therapy needs. Examples of IEP goals include identifying numbers, naming shapes, making letter sounds, reading sight words, copying a sentence, taking turns, hand washing, grasping a pencil, and walking downstairs with minimal assistance.
With your support, the students in my classroom will get the materials and opportunities they greatly need to achieve high academic and social expectations.
My Project
Learning in my classroom is very hands on. I try my best to alway make learning fun and engaging. With the Snap & Build Phonics - Complete Set and Snap & Build Sight-Words - Complete Set, my students will practice building and reading a variety of words that will help their reading skills. With the Phonics set, my students will gain hands on learning opportunities to explore cvc words, blends and blends & digraphs, and vowel sounds. Additionally with the Sight Words set, my students will gain hands on experience with 75 of the most common sight words. These activities will help build my students reading skills and increase engagement in the classroom.
