My Students
My students are passionate, smart, and delight in the opportunity to express their creativity through music. They love to explore through play and music making. With your support I hope to get quality supplies for my deserving students!
Though my students may face challenges, these passionate kids never let any challenge stand in their way!
Making music encourages them to think outside the box and helps them develop their creative mindset. Whether these amazing kids become musicians, or doctors, or teachers, or entrepreneurs - the skills they learn in my classroom will help them in every path. Music makes a difference! Help support these incredible kids in North Carolina!
My Project
As an itinerant music teacher, I see kids in a lot of different spaces, which means that I'm often traveling on a cart to teach in their main classroom. Teaching from a cart can be tricky, but I've found that the right resources go a long way to bringing a wonderful music education to students wherever they are. I really need a set of my own materials to fill up my cart with multifaceted instruments and scarves.
These resources will make music on a cart come to life with music, movement, and joy!
Being on a cart automatically means limited space for storing supplies. This means that only carefully chosen materials that are able to fill multiple needs will do. The resources I've chosen are very versatile and will bring a lot of delight to my students.
Egg shakers are always a wonderful hit with my youngest kids who enjoy exploring tempo and beat with these easy-to-hold instruments. These shakers also work great for my upper grade kids for hiding games and rhythm practice. The lummi sticks (short plastic sticks) are actually tubes, meaning they make a wonderful "bubble" sound when bopped on the legs. This is in addition to their regular drumming and clicking sounds, making them perfect for multi-sound drum practice without a whole drum set. And finally, no musical cart would be complete without a wonderful set of rainbow scarves. I can use these for so many things: imaginative songs, demonstrating musical form with different movements, and folk dances.
With these resources in hand, my students will have the opportunity for an incredible music experience - all from a cart!
