My Students
Money is such an important topic in second grade and I want my students to get all the practice they need.
My students are kind and beautiful children, but haven't had the same opportunities or experiences as most children their age. 100% of our school population receives free breakfast and lunch, with most students coming from a Native American or Spanish background.
My Project
My students need reward items they can buy in the classroom store, such as erasers, bracelets, games and pens. My students will participate in a mini-economy during the school year. Students will earn money each day for completing their homework and showing great behavior. At the end of the week students will be able to spend their money in the class store. The items I've requested will be available for students to purchase from our class store.
This project will allow my students to practice counting and using money during the entire school year. Students will not only gain the skill of counting coins, they will also learn about budgeting, shopping and saving.
