Mastering Math Through Repetition

My Project

Our school is in the process of adopting a proficiency-based grading system. In conjunction with this process, students are allowed to redo all assignments and most quizzes. I do not have a printer in my room. When a student comes in for help or to redo a quiz/assignment, I have to leave my room to get printed materials. This wastes my time and the students' time.

Having a printer in my classroom will help me best serve those willing to come in for extra help and tutoring before or after school.

They will also be able to come in for tutoring during math lab class to work on topics such as factoring. This topic is hard for most students, and I have had students come after school for tutoring on this subject. I have a math program that creates practice problems for these students, and I can have the program create questions that cater to the students' needs. I will use the printer to print these questions for my students. Once printed, I can review important steps with students, and they can use the printed materials to solve the problems with peers. Students will receive further explanations on topics they need assistance with, which will help them succeed in meeting their math goals. The printer will be a great addition to our classroom and will be great for giving students the practice they need.
