My Students

My school serves a diverse community of students in a rural area. My kindergarten students come from a wide range of socioeconomic backgrounds and many are from bilingual families. Each student brings a wonderfully unique perspective to my kindergarten classroom. As a class, they are enthusiastic learners that thrive through hands-on opportunities for learning. They are inquisitive and enjoy problem solving and creative play. My kindergarteners are motivated by cooperative learning opportunities because they love to talk and share their ideas. They are an amazing class with the potential to do wonderful things.

My Project

Kindergartners needs hands-on learning experiences in math. The ETA hand2mind Daily Math Fluency Kit provides lessons and resources that my kindergarteners need to develop their understanding of numbers and number concepts. This kit provides daily activities that will help elicit thinking and the development of new math strategies. The hands-on materials will allow me to model math strategies during instruction, and will provide students with resources to practice math skills and problem solving.

My students are learning to reason and make connections in math, while developing strategies they will need to be successful throughout their educations.

This kit teaches strategies like subitizing, counting on, counting back, and getting to ten. The strategies taught with these materials will benefit my students throughout their educations and are important life skills. These materials will help to set a mathematical foundation for learning.
