Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Help make math fun! My students crave hands-on math activities that keep them engaged while helping them develop strong foundational skills.

My classroom is full of eager 1st graders, who are ready to become mathematicians!

They love to explore math topics hands-on and work hard to improve their math skills everyday. Our school is in an urban environment, with a tremendous school and neighborhood community. Our staff, administrators, parents, and community members work together to provide the best education possible to our hard working and dedicated students.

My Project

I have requested a set of Common Core games to help my students meet their learning targets for first grade. In addition, I have asked for a set of ready to go math centers, that will allow my students to work in small groups on a variety of skills. I have also asked for some math board games for kids to practice place value, time, and money. This collection of math games and learning centers will give my students the opportunity to work on math skills in a hands-on way. All too often, math instruction relies heavily on worksheets, but these centers will help students explore math topics in a fun and active way. With a wide range of learners, these materials will allow students to work on a variety of topics depending on their own individual skills. These materials will be used year after year in my room to help students practice important math skills in a way that will keep them engaged and interest

As a first grade teacher, one of my main priorities is to help my students develop a strong foundation in math.

I hope to encourage my students to live a life full of curiosity and problem solving. I wish to instill in them a thirst for knowledge that they will carry with them for years to come. I believe that these math materials will help my students to understand and master the basics of math so that they have a strong foundation to build upon in the future
