Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My classroom will be devoted to reading and math. Fourth and fifth grade students will be rotating between four classrooms where each teacher will concentrate on reading and a core subject.
My students are ready to learn.
School is a place of structure, consistency, stability, and love. We are their home away from home, the place where they see their friends and grow together. We work as a team. Individuals work on their individual needs. Tables work together. The class comes together to share, discuss, and analyze.
My Project
We need Time for Kids, Sports Illustrated Kids and National Geographic Kids magazines and a variety of math books. The magazines and math books will be used constantly. The magazines are great ways to teach reading using current events that relate to the students' daily lives. The math books will be in the library for free reading time and for students who have finished their work before the others.
We look forward to each new issue of Time to come in the mail to work on as a class.
Time truly relates to the children and provides additional features for the teacher such as posters. Sports Illustrated and National Geographic allow the students to choose a magazine to read on their own providing them an opportunity to become attached to the genre.
